Crystal Pullman's ePortfolio
As mentioned on the homepage, this e-portfolio follows the metaphor of a journey. My MET was one road trip on my lifelong journey. As such, this ePortfolio is set up so that you can experience my journey, and my MET roadtrip, as I did.

About the RoadTrip Metaphor:
A big part of my life is family. From the time I was a child, my family spent a lot of time together. We went on family vacations every year - two week roadtrips to Florida, a few days or weeks here and there camping, roadtrips to the East Coast, and trips even Wales and Ireland to visit family. My experiences as a child have inspired in me a desire to travel to and experience as much of the world as possible. Since graduating high school I've taken several roadtrips without my family - to South Virginia, Florida, Pasadena - and a few with my family - Florida, San Diego, BC - and every experience is great. There are twists and turns in the roads, sometimes issues with hotels, wrong turns, car accidents (we've never been involved, thankfully), and more.
When I found out that we needed a metaphor, and to design our ePortfolio around it, I realized that the ePortfolio I had already developed would not be sufficient. I began thinking about the things that are important to me - travel, family, hobbies (photography) - and wondered how I could incorporate those into a metaphor. After much debating with my husband, it hit me. A roadtrip! How perfect. A metaphor that describes my life, my passions, my studies, and of course, my MET experience.
I created the tour with Camtasia 6, and use YouTube to stream it quickly. I used Adobe Dreamweaver 8 and 9 (CS3 and CS4) to create most of the website. Various aspects of the website took different programs, such as Microsoft Publisher 2007, and for part of the lefthand navigation buttons I found 'design your own roadsign' websites online. The background pictures were edited using Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and the song that plays on the homepage uses a free player available online for downloading. The original template I used for this website was provided by Free CSS Templates, although it has been significantly altered from the template available on the website.
I chose to use Dreamweaver as I started using it in the fall of 2008, when I first began in the MET program. I used Dreamweaver to design some very simple websites for group projects. I looked into available programs, and Dreamweaver seemed like the logical choice, especially with the student discount! Since then I've become much more proficient with Dreamweaver, as I believe this site shows.
